The program is completed in 5.25 years of full-time study, or the equivalent part-time.
Students can specialise in one of three majors: Advertising, Film & Screen Production, or Journalism. Elective courses in the Communications & Media component include Screenwriting, Documentary Studies, Advanced Screen Production: Drama, Digital Media Production, Journalism for TV & Video, Australian and World Cinema, Radio, Interactive Media, Online Newsroom, Digital Photography, and Photojournalism.

There are no practicum or internship requirements applicable to these Awards, but there are internship courses and work-integrated learning opportunities available in the Bachelor of Communications and Media component of the Awards.
WA applicants with recent secondary education require an indicative ATAR/Selection Rank of 80 (including Adjustment Factors), or an International Baccalaureate (IB) score of 29. The university also considers non-academic achievements such as leadership roles, volunteering, work, church and/or community involvement, as well as personal qualities including aspirations, interests and capacity to complete the program.
