Legal Internship
A practical placement completed over 4 weeks (totaling 140 hours, at 35 hours per week). Designed to expose students to the application of the law in practice; enable students to understand the importance of developing the skills of legal research, communication, drafting, practice management, and problem solving; and enable students to observe and reflect upon the values, ethical standards, and conduct of the legal profession in practice.

Yes. The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board. By completing your law degree at UOW, you are completing an academic qualification that is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT). To be eligible for admission, you must have completed an undergraduate degree. The UOW School of Law requires a minimum average mark of 70% (or the GPA/WAM equivalent). If an applicant's mark is lower, the school may consider other factors such as the nature of previous study, relevant professional experience, a personal statement, and work and life experience.
Yes. Law students are required to complete a Legal Internship subject (LLB3397). This subject involves a practical placement completed over 4 weeks, totalling 140 hours at 35 hours per week. Yes. International law graduates who wish to practice law in Australia may complete this Graduate Entry course to be recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completion of Practical Legal Training (PLT).
For Autumn Session 2026 at UOW, the application deadlines are: Domestic (UAC Early Bird) – 30 September 2025; International – 9 December 2025; Domestic (direct) – 31 December 2025; Domestic (UAC final round) – 29 January 2026.
