Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) (Honours)

The Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) (Honours), which ACU abbreviates as LLB(GE)(Hons), is a 270 credit point award with a minimum duration of three and a half years full-time or the equivalent part-time. ACU's 2027 handbook lists Brisbane, Melbourne and North Sydney as the approved locations for the course. To qualify for the degree a student completes 180 credit points of law specified units, the 10 credit point unit LAWS450 Legal Research and Methodology, the 30 credit point LAWS451 Honours Thesis, 40 credit points of law elective units, and a 10 credit point community legal engagement pro bono unit. To qualify for the honours award, at least four of the units taken from the law specified units and/or the law elective units must be at level 4. Students must also complete at least 80 hours of zero-credit pro bono placement after completing LAWS213 Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono. Specified law units in the schedule include LAWS104 Foundations of Law and Legal Research, LAWS105 Contract Law, LAWS106 Criminal Law and Procedure, LAWS107 Introduction to Australian Public Law, LAWS108 Commercial Law, LAWS200 Business Organisations, LAWS201 Civil Procedure and Alternative Dispute Resolution, LAWS204 Land Law, LAWS205 Property, LAWS206 Torts, LAWS304 Evidence and LAWS314 Statutory Interpretation, alongside a schedule of 38 law electives. Students normally complete units at introductory 100 level before undertaking advanced units at 200, 300 and 400 level.
