Common Questions
In the Bachelor of Professional Communication component, you can choose one major and one minor in Media and Communication. The available major options are Advertising, Public Relations, and Digital Communication. The Public Relations Major is accredited by Communication and Public Relations Australia (CPRA), making graduates eligible for CPRA Introductory Membership upon graduation.
To graduate from the Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Professional Communication, you must complete 24 subjects totalling 288 credit points in Law (including 19 core subjects and 5 approved law options), and 16 subjects totalling 192 credit points in Professional Communication (including 4 foundation subjects, 1 major, and 4 subjects from your selected Media and Communication minor or university electives).
The double degree integrates industry experience through Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects that blend academic study with practical industry activities. You will have opportunities for clinical legal education, industry placements, internships, and participation in moots (mock court experiences). There are also study tour opportunities with partners in countries including Vietnam and New Zealand. Each degree includes a capstone subject where you showcase your knowledge and skills through a project of your choice.
In 2026, the annual student contribution amount for a Commonwealth Supported Place is between AU$4,738 and AU$17,399 per standard year of full-time study, depending on the discipline band of individual subjects. Law, Communications, and related subjects fall in the highest band at AU$17,399 per standard year. Eligible students (Australian citizens or holders of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa) may defer payment via a HECS-HELP loan. An annual Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of up to AU$373 also applies for 2026.
To be eligible to be admitted to practise law in Australia after completing this degree, you will need to complete the Practical Legal Training (PLT) requirements. This can be done either through one year of Supervised Workplace Training with a law firm, or through an approved PLT course. The PLT course can be undertaken on a fee-paying basis through Leo Cussen Centre for Law or The College of Law.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
