About This Course

Unlock the power of numbers, data, and code with our Bachelor of Mathematics and Bachelor of Computer Science double degree, designed to equip you with unparalleled technical expertise and problem-solving abilities, paving the way for a wide range of career opportunities. The Bachelor of Mathematics will equip you with highly transferable skills in problem-solving, data analysis, probability and variability, mathematical modelling, logistics and logic. You can also take advantage of opportunities on offer including scholarships from corporate partners, summer scholarships, and access to programs offered by the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) ACE Network. Throughout the Bachelor of Computer Science, you will study the theoretical foundations of computer science and IT, with the opportunity to specialise in a major. In your final year you will develop your own application as part of a team project developing solutions to real-world problems provided by our industry partners. A double degree at UOW provides a world-class qualification in less time and at less cost than studying the two degrees separately. Having a double degree will give you a competitive advantage in a crowded job market.

Requirements

ATAR/Selection Rank: The minimum score for guaranteed entry is a Selection Rank of 75 (ATAR-SR). Your Selection Rank is your ATAR or IB Combined Rank plus any adjustments you are eligible to receive.
IBAS: 28.00
Prerequisites: Students must have studied the equivalent of NSW HSC Mathematics Standard 2 (minimum Band 2) to be admitted into this degree.
Assumed Knowledge: UOW assumes students will have studied any two units of NSW HSC English, or equivalent.
Recommended Studies: Ideally, students will have studied NSW HSC Mathematics Extension 1, or equivalent.
Other high-school qualifications considered: GCE A-Levels, New Zealand NCEA Level 3, and overseas senior secondary qualifications comparable to Australian qualifications.
Higher Education Study: Applicants must have completed at least half a year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent) at a Bachelor's degree level or higher, in the areas of Natural and Physical Sciences, or Information Technology or Engineering.
VET Study: Applicants who have completed a minimum of an AQF Certificate IV will be considered, provided previous study was in Natural and Physical Sciences, or Information Technology or Engineering.
Work and life experience: Admission is primarily based on academic qualifications; work or life experience is generally not considered.
English Language Proficiency: All UOW courses are taught in English. If English is not your first language, you must meet the University's English Language Requirements. Accepted international test results include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Applicants: UOW's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre's Indigenous Admissions Program (IAP) offers an alternative pathway for Indigenous Australians aged 17 and over.
