Mathematics is fundamental to break-through engineering – open up new, complimentary fields like data mining, mathematical modelling, statistics and predictive analysis. All engineering students complete 12 weeks of industrial experience during their degree. This can be completed in one block or as shorter placements of no less than two weeks. Through your work placement you’ll build important professional networks and put your learning into practice. In your final year, you will complete a mathematics capstone project, working with industry on a real-world project. The program is accredited by Engineers Australia. Graduates of this program are able to join as graduate members on completion, and as student members during studies. This combined degree program provides students with an opportunity to undertake concurrent study in mechanical engineering and mathematics to complete two awards. In general, a combined degree program offers greater breadth of learning, enhancing the academic and professional qualities gained in each separate degree. At the same time, it recognises the increasing need for students to graduate with multidisciplinary skills.
