You can choose one of four Communication majors: Media and Communication Industries, Journalism, Screen Industries, or Promotional Communication. Each major comprises 96 credit points and shapes your specialisation within the broader media and communication field.
Throughout your degree you'll apply learning to practical industry challenges. In your final year, you'll complete a capstone project where you research a current media industry issue, develop a research question, and pitch your solution in a professional video presentation. Past students have completed placements with Nine News, Network Ten, Metro Arts, Queensland Writers Centre, and Hyperplex Cinemas. You can also take part in international study tours to South-East Asia, Europe, and the US.
Yes, you can study a double degree to maximise your career opportunities. Available double degrees include the Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Communication (Media and Communication Industries) and the Bachelor of Communication (Media and Communication Industries)/Bachelor of Laws (Honours). You can also add a communication second major (such as journalism, screen industries, or promotional communication) or minors such as strategic communications, news and factual media, or social media strategy.

You must complete a total of 288 credit points comprising: six common units (72 credit points), a Communication major (96 credit points), complementary studies (96 credit points, which can be a second major, two minors, one minor plus electives, or 96 credit points of electives), and four QUT You units (24 credit points).
