For domestic applicants, you need a study score of at least 27 in VCE units 3 and 4 EAL or at least 25 in English, Literature or English Language. Under the 2026 pilot, you may also meet requirements via an English proficiency test such as IELTS (Academic) with a minimum overall band of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0), TOEFL iBT overall score of 79, PTE (Academic) of 58, or C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency score of 176 with no less than 169 in any component.
Yes. For entry to bachelor degrees at RMIT, you can meet the English language requirements through satisfactory completion of 2 undergraduate level courses equivalent to at least 24 RMIT University credit points, or satisfactory completion of an AQF accredited award at certificate IV or above (or equivalent).
Yes. If you are applying through the Schools Network Access Program (SNAP) or the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Access Program, the English study score for admission is 5 points lower than the published study score for bachelor degrees.
No. RMIT does not accept scores from 'at-home' or 'online' testing. Additionally, any TOEFL iBT tests taken on or after 21 January 2026 must be the TOEFL iBT Australia test, and TOEFL iBT results reported on a 1–6 score scale are not accepted.
To meet the English language requirement for entry into a bachelor degree at RMIT via the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), you need to achieve an overall score of at least 156 or a verbal reasoning sub-score of 155.
