Built into the fourth year of the course, honours includes a focused research project in an area of interest in medical biotechnology, under the supervision of a leading researcher, together with other advanced course work, ensuring that you have the skills and knowledge to meet the needs of tomorrow's employers.
The minimum score for guaranteed entry (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is a Selection Rank of 80. Your Selection Rank is your ATAR or IB Combined Rank plus any adjustments you are eligible to receive.
You will study molecular and functional biology, chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, genetics, statistics, cell biology, immunology, microbiology and bioinformatics, just to name a few. You will also learn about techniques in biotechnology and medical research whilst having opportunities to explore other areas of passion through dedicated elective space within the degree.
Graduates qualify to apply for membership of relevant professional societies such as the Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Australian Society for Microbiology.
The Autumn 2026 session starts on 2 March 2026. Application deadlines are: Domestic (UAC Early Bird) by 30 September 2025, International by 9 December 2025, Domestic (direct) by 31 December 2025, and Domestic (UAC final round) by 29 January 2026.
