About This Course

Use advanced imaging technology to improve lives You'll be prepared for a dynamic career using advanced medical imaging technology. You will develop essential clinical reasoning and patient management skills. Learn how to create medical images to diagnose and manage patient health to save and improve lives.

During your studies you will have access to the latest diagnostic radiography technologies. Some of these include plain x-rays, computed tomography (CT), fluoroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, angiography and mammography. Practice on campus in our world-class, health sciences precinct and through clinical placement opportunities. You’ll graduate with the confidence and competence to undertake professional practice as a diagnostic radiographer. You will be able to enrol in a range of courses including: Take a quick tour of the Health Education and Research Building, a purpose-built facility that delivers modern teaching and learning for our nursing, midwifery and allied health students, here at our Callaghan campus. All diagnostic radiography students complete approximately 40 weeks of professional practice during their degree, starting in the first year. During your placement, you are mentored and supervised by qualified diagnostic radiographers. You will undertake placements in public and private hospitals and practices located in the Hunter Region, NSW, interstate or overseas. You will take part in metropolitan, regional and rural placements as part of this degree. Option to complete placements and/or part of the program from the UONDRH Training Centres including locations such as Tamworth and Coffs Harbour UONDRH staff can provide teaching, including tutorials to allow students to complete some or all of years 3 & 4 based at UONDRH.

Eligibility for admission to this program is based on applicants meeting the minimum selection rank, or satisfying the requirements for an approved admission scheme.
