Common Questions
The course offers three majors: Biotechnology, Biotechnology and Diagnostic Pathology (new from Term 1, 2026), and Clinical Physiology. The Biotechnology and Clinical Physiology majors also allow you to choose from a range of minors to further tailor your studies, while the Biotechnology and Diagnostic Pathology Major does not include a minor.
Yes, if you choose to study online, you will be required to attend compulsory face-to-face residential schools throughout your degree. These are typically held in Rockhampton. Several units across the course are designated as Residential School units.
Students are required to undertake a minimum of 360 hours of compulsory work experience in the Clinical Physiology and Biotechnology & Diagnostic Pathology and Pathology specialisations, and 180 hours in the Biotechnology specialisation. All students enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Science (Specialisation) are required to undertake the Advanced Work Integrated Learning unit (BMSC13012).
To be eligible, you must meet a minimum ATAR/SR of 69.00, satisfy English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements, and while optional, recommended prior study includes English, Maths, and Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Medical Science (Specialisation), you may be interested in the Master of Teaching (Secondary) if you have completed the Pathway to Teaching (Secondary) Minor. You can also apply to receive credit for four units, accelerating your postgraduate studies in that program.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
