Common Questions
Yes, the campus changes depending on your year of study. You will study at the St Albans Campus for Years 1 and 2, and then move to the Sunshine Clinical School for Years 3 and 4.
You'll graduate career-ready, having spent 25 per cent of your course working in clinical placements. VU has practical nursing-placement opportunities in over 200 clinical venues, with strong partnerships with Western Health and Werribee Mercy Hospital. You'll also meet and follow at least 10 women through pregnancy, childbirth, and post-birth as part of your Continuity of Care Experiences (CoCE).
Prior to undertaking placements, students must complete a National Police Records check (annually), a Working with Children Check, provide evidence of mandatory vaccinations (including annual flu vaccination), and complete a Fitness for Practice Declaration Form. Evidence must be provided by 5pm on Friday of Week 3 of the relevant Block. The associated cost is approximately $300 to over $500, and the lead time to complete all requirements can take up to 5 months.
This course is offered as a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) for eligible students (Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens), with indicative fees of AU$4,738 per year for a full-time student in 2026. Students may also be eligible for a HELP loan, repaid through the tax system once earning above the compulsory repayment threshold. Additionally, the Commonwealth Practicum Payment (CPP) provides a cost-of-living payment to eligible domestic students undertaking mandatory placements.
Upon graduating, you will hold both a Bachelor of Midwifery and a Bachelor of Nursing, and will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) to practise as both a registered nurse and a registered midwife. You will also meet the standards to register with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). This course is accredited by the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
