Students can choose from four majors: Classical Performance, Composition and Sonic Arts, Contemporary Performance, or Jazz Performance.
Yes, all applicants are required to attend an audition, which includes a theory test and an interview. However, the audition/interview requirement may be waived for current ECU students enrolled in the Diploma of Music, Advanced Diploma of Music, Diploma of Music Industry or Advanced Diploma of Music Industry. Students currently enrolled in ECU's Advanced Diploma of Music who select Contemporary Music as their nominated unit set are not required to attend an audition/interview.
The Bachelor of Music takes 4 years full-time or part-time equivalent for domestic students. International students must study full-time over 4 years.
For domestic students, the estimated first year indicative fee is AUD $9,550 (Commonwealth supported place). For international students, the estimated first year indicative fee is AUD $40,650.
The Bachelor of Music offers students a wealth of real-world performance opportunities, in large ensembles like symphony orchestras and big bands, as well as smaller bands or chamber ensembles. With access to state-of-the-art facilities and an array of practical classes, students develop specialist skills while also accessing a broad spectrum of musical training. The course also affords unique opportunities for students to undertake cross-disciplinary artistic collaboration, cultivate creative leadership, and develop a unique artistic voice.
