An audition is required for the Bachelor of Music (Music Extended Major), Music General Studies Major, Contemporary Popular Music Major, Music Studies Major, Music Theatre Major, and Applied Music Minor. If your course does not require an audition, you can simply enrol in the relevant degree and then select the major once you've accepted your offer from UWA.
You should come prepared with two contrasting pieces that best show your ability — choose something that shows your skill and that you can play well. Instrumentalists can perform with or without an accompanist. During the audition, there will be a short aural test where you may be asked to recall and clap a rhythm or sing a melody. A portfolio of your work (such as academic writing, compositions, or music certificates) is optional but welcomed.
For Music Theatre, you should come prepared with two contrasting musical pieces that best showcase your skills, plus one spoken text monologue (maximum two minutes) from a published play, musical, or film. All performance material must be presented from memory. The audition consists of four elements: singing, spoken text, aural test, and interview. Although dance is part of the Music Theatre Major, it is not required for entry and is not included in the audition process.
International applicants need to provide a recorded audition via Dropbox, USB, YouTube, DVD, or any file sharing system that allows UWA access to view it. You should perform two contrasting pieces on your instrument or voice in a single take without editing the recording afterwards. You'll also need to provide a certified letter stating the authenticity and date of the recording. Once you arrive at UWA, you may be asked to do a separate informal audition.
If you plan to defer for over six months, you'll need to re-audition to secure your place. It is essential to maintain a high standard of performance until you start at the Conservatorium.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
