Thinking About Audio & Music
Introduces creative and scholarly thinking in the discipline. By examining leading thinkers and movements in audio and music, students develop an understanding of key practical and professional skills, the industry, scholarship, and the nature of creativity.
Foundations of Songwriting
Develops foundational skills for composing music and lyrics effectively. Covers music theory concepts including rhythm, harmony, melody, notation, structure, form, texture and genre through iteration, peer review and mentor feedback.

The Bachelor of Music is available at five SAE campuses across Australia: Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.
The Bachelor of Music can be completed in three different durations: 6 Trimesters Full Time (Fast Track) over 2 years, 8 Trimesters Full Time over 2.5 years, or 9 Trimesters Full Time over 3 years. A part-time option is also available for domestic students.
For domestic students, the course consists of 22 units at $2,999 each and 1 unit at $5,998, with an indicative annual course fee of $23,992 AUD (based on 1.0 EFTSL), plus a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). FEE-HELP is available. For international students, fees are 22 units at $3,495 each and 1 unit at $6,990, with an indicative annual course fee of $27,960 AUD, plus SSAF.
Students will gain proficiencies in songwriting, composition, music business and industry, stagecraft, recording techniques, electronic music production and studio music production. The course is structured in three stages covering foundational skills development, interdisciplinary projects and media and cultural studies, followed by specialisation, a major project, portfolio and work placement.
International students must meet one of the following English language requirements: an Academic IELTS minimum overall band of 6.0 with no individual band below 5.5 completed in the last two years (or equivalent); OR completion of Year 12 English in an Australian secondary school or college or equivalent with a minimum result of 'Satisfactory' or equivalent; OR successful completion of an Academic English program with an SAE-approved Australian-based English partner.
