The program offers the following principal study areas: Brass (orchestral), Drum set (non-orchestral), Guitar, organ, piano (non-orchestral), Historical performance, Jazz, Music theatre, Non-western music, Percussion, Strings, Woodwind, and Voice (classical).
The Advanced Studies component allows you to specialise in a major from the University's shared pool, which includes areas such as Architecture and Interaction Design, Arts and Social Sciences, Business and Commerce, Education and Social Work, Engineering and Computer Science, Health, Medicine and Dentistry, Music, and Science, Agriculture, Environment and Veterinary Science.
Yes, students commencing in the Semester 2 intake will be restricted to the following study areas: Orchestral performance, Non-orchestral performance (Classical piano; Collaborative piano; Classical guitar; Organ; Classical saxophone), Historical Performance, Non-western music, and Drum set. Semester 2 places are limited, so prospective students are encouraged to email con.apply@sydney.edu.au for more information.
If you would like to study honours and meet the relevant admissions requirements, you will be able to apply for an appended honours degree after completing four years of undergraduate study.
Yes, applicants are required to register an audition with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music as part of the application process. It is also recommended that you read about the undergraduate pre-admission and audition requirements on the university's website before applying.
