You will develop the skills to compose electroacoustic music, including sound art, digital music and computer music. In addition, you will complete core studies in compositional techniques and analysis, instrumentation and orchestration, music theory and aural training, and historical & cultural studies.
There are three steps: Step 1 – Submit your course application through the University of Sydney (domestic applicants via UAC, international applicants directly to the University). Step 2 – Register for your audition and/or interview via the Acceptd portal, where you will enter your University of Sydney application number, select your degree and program, schedule your audition timeslot, upload required files (e.g. portfolio, recordings), and pay the audition registration fee of USD $30. Step 3 – Prepare your audition and/or portfolio using the Undergraduate Audition Guide.
Composition applicants are required to submit a portfolio and attend an interview. The interviews are delivered via Zoom (unless otherwise stated) and is an informal chat about your submitted work/s, your musical interests, and your plans for pursuing your studies at the Con.
Auditions and interviews are held twice a year during the NSW school holidays in July and September. You choose the round you would like to audition in, and you will not be put at any disadvantage if you choose one round over the other.
Yes, separate deadlines apply for scholarships. Prospective students are advised to view the scholarship closing dates on the University of Sydney website. Eligible domestic applicants may also apply for an early offer through the Creative Arts Special Admissions Scheme before receiving their ATAR.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
