Common Questions
The Fast Track option allows you to complete your Bachelor of Music in 6 trimesters (2 years) by studying units at an accelerated pace. Standard full-time options are also available over 8 trimesters (2.5 years) or 9 trimesters (3 years), and a part-time option is available for domestic students.
You can choose from four specialisation areas: Songwriting and Music Production (covering scoring, notation, arrangement, mixing and mastering for screen and games), Electronic Music (digital mixing, mastering, sound design, sampling, synthesis and live electronic creation), Music Industry (artist and event management, digital music strategies, marketing and entrepreneurship), and Creative Musicianship (branding, creative identity, performance skills and future-focused music making).
For domestic students, the course costs 22 units at $2,999 each and 1 unit at $5,998, with an indicative annual course fee of $23,992 AUD (based on 1.0 EFTSL), plus a Student Services and Amenities Fee. FEE-HELP is available for eligible domestic students. For international students, the cost is 22 units at $3,495 each and 1 unit at $6,990, with an indicative annual course fee of $27,960 AUD plus SSAF.
Yes. The course includes a Work Integrated Learning unit (CIM310) which requires a minimum of 80 hours of professional placement at one or more host organisations. Additionally, students work on real-world project briefs with students from other SAE disciplines (film, audio, games, animation) and build a professional portfolio throughout their studies.
The Bachelor of Music (Fast Track) is available at SAE's Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney campuses. Upcoming intake dates are September 2026, February 2027, and May 2027 at all five campuses.
