• Academic (Domestic – Recent Secondary Education): Must have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or equivalent qualification. Entry is competitive; applicants ranked by ATAR plus any adjustment factors. Lowest selection rank (ATAR including adjustments) to receive an offer: 60.90*.
• Prerequisites (VCE): Units 3 and 4 — a study score of at least 25 in English (other than EAL); OR a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL); or equivalent studies.
• Adjustment Factors: Eligible applicants may receive up to 28 aggregate adjustment points, including equity access schemes and subject adjustments. SNAP access scheme available to eligible Year 12 applicants at SNAP partner schools. Regional adjustments automatically allocated to applicants from low socio-economic status areas (determined by ABS SEIFA Index). Additional adjustment factors may apply to female applicants due to under-representation in this program (via VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme Category 1 or RMIT access application).
• Academic (Domestic – VET Study): Ranked on highest completed TAFE/VET qualification. Assigned selection rank equivalent: Advanced Diploma = 81; Diploma = 72; Certificate IV = 54.
• Personal Statement (encouraged for VET applicants): 300–500 words outlining: reasons for wanting to study the program; awareness of current issues in the music industry; personal career aspirations; current involvement in music activities (performances, productions, or other relevant industry experience, with evidence such as YouTube or SoundCloud links — collaborative work must detail individual role).
• Academic (Domestic – Higher Education Study): Ranked on GPA. Must have successfully completed at least two graded courses (subjects) (0.25 EFTSL) in an Australian bachelor degree, or four graded courses (0.5 EFTSL) in an Australian associate degree, or overseas equivalent. Previous fail grades in similar courses may affect eligibility. Evidence of music performance, production or other relevant industry experience encouraged (YouTube, SoundCloud, etc.).
• Academic (Domestic – Work and Life Experience): Ranked on STAT score plus any adjustment factors. Must have completed VCE (or equivalent) and meet stated prerequisites. May satisfy academic requirements via STAT multiple choice.
• STAT: May satisfy academic requirements via the STAT multiple choice. STAT results valid for 2 years prior to commencement. Eligible if: aged 19 or over as of 1 January in the year of study commencement AND not enrolled in secondary studies for at least two years AND no prior Year 12, VET, HE or relevant work experience (or these do not meet minimum requirements).
• Elite Athlete and Performer Program: Eligible elite and emerging athletes/performers may apply to balance study and high-performance commitments.
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples: Indigenous Access Program available; informal interview process supported by the Ngarara Willim Centre; relevant life, work, education or training experience given additional consideration.
• July Entry Note: Students commencing in July are required to complete subjects intensively over one summer semester during the first year of the degree (comprising 48 credit points).
