About This Course

The Bachelor of Nursing prepares students for a career as a Registered Nurse, developing vital assessment and clinical decision-making skills alongside a person-centred, professional approach to care that can be applied across healthcare, industry and community settings. Delivered over three years through contemporary, evidence-based methods, the course covers foundational human biology and research practice as well as essential clinical knowledge and skills. Students train in an on-campus simulation hospital environment and complete 800 hours of clinical placement, building the confidence to begin working across a range of healthcare and community settings on graduation. An Enrolled Nurse pathway allows entry into the second year of the degree, while other applicants need an ATAR of 60 or relevant work-life experience. Learning outcomes include professional assessment and clinical decision-making, clinical placement experience across multiple healthcare, industry and community settings, and a strong understanding of the key factors in patient health and wellbeing.

The program is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC), meeting the education standards of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and Torrens University is a member of the Australian College of Nursing, the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association, the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwifery, and the Council of Deans of Nursing and Midwifery. This AQF Level 7 course is delivered on campus at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide over three years full-time.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Domestic students:

Australian secondary school certificate with ATAR 60 or equivalent OR
A completed Diploma of Nursing and registration with AHPRA OR
Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 5), or above
Must meet the minimum English Language standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) for initial course entry and registration, with evidence provided prior to commencing study
Inherent requirements include ethical behaviour, behavioural stability, legal, communication, cognition, sensory ability, and strength and mobility
Alternative option: work/life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level, which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment

International students:

Australian secondary school certificate with ATAR 60 or equivalent, or equivalent Senior Secondary qualification, or Baccalaureate Diploma OR
A completed Diploma of Nursing and registration with AHPRA AND
Academic IELTS 7.0 in four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking) OR
OET 350 in each of listening and writing, and 360 in each of reading and speaking OR
TOEFL iBT minimum score of 91 OR
PTE Academic minimum score of 63 AND
Inherent requirements include ethical behaviour, behavioural stability, legal, communication, cognition, sensory ability, and strength and mobility OR
Alternative entry requirement may be available, which may include assessment and approval of prior study, or successful completion of a readiness assessment
