Yes. This degree has accreditation and approval from the Nurses and Midwives Board Australia. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a registered nurse in Australia.
Throughout your Nursing degree, you gain practical experience in four to six week blocks across various hospital and community settings, meaning you will graduate with a minimum of eight hundred hours of professional experience placement over three years. Settings include aged-care facilities, hospitals, GP practices, and community health teams.
To attend a health-related placement, students must provide: a current National Criminal History Check valid for their entire program; a Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance letter or state equivalent; a current approved first aid certificate; a completed vaccination/immunisation card with all serology results attached; an Undertaking/Declaration form; and additional state-required documents such as a Tuberculosis Assessment tool, Hepatitis B statutory declaration form, Signed Code of Conduct, and Student Deed Poll. Students must also wear the Western Sydney University nursing and midwifery uniform during clinical placement subjects.
