Common Questions
Bachelor of Nursing students are required to complete 800 hours of clinical experience. During your clinical placements, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience in a range of health facility locations across NSW, including medical–surgical units, acute care settings, aged care facilities, and rural health services. The University guarantees clinical placements with dedicated guidance to help you complete your 800 hours on time.
The Bachelor of Nursing is offered at two campuses: Newcastle (Callaghan) and Gosford (Central Coast). Domestic students can commence in Semester 1 (27 Jan 2026), Trimester 2 (11 May 2026), or Semester 2 (17 Aug 2026). Note that the Semester 2 intake is exclusively available to eligible Diploma Enrolled Nursing Pathway students with recognised approved credit.
International applicants who do not speak English as a first language must demonstrate English proficiency. The requirements for international students are an IELTS overall minimum of 7.0 and an IELTS section minimum of 7.0. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and practice as Registered Nurses in Australia as well as in many overseas countries. Possible roles include Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Nurse Educator, Nurse Manager, and Nurse Researcher. According to the Graduate Outcomes Survey 2022–2024, 90.2% of graduates were employed within four months of graduating, with a median starting salary of $68,900.
