The Bachelor of Nursing program at IHM is currently undergoing the accreditation process with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) and approval from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Final enrolment into the program will be subject to successful accreditation by ANMAC and formal approval by the NMBA.
You will complete five (5) PEPs totalling 800 hours throughout the course: 160 hours in Year 1 Semester 2, 240 hours across Year 2 (120 hours in Semester 3 for acute and chronic nursing care, and 120 hours in Semester 4 for mental health nursing), and 400 hours across Year 3 (160 hours in Semester 5 focusing on community care, and 240 hours in Semester 6 for medical/surgical nursing practice).
Health care facilities mandate that students provide a National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, Immunisation Certificate, and facility-specific requirements such as e-learning modules including orientation and mandatory trainings. Mandatory e-learning modules include Hand Hygiene Certificate, First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate, Manual Handling Certificate, Blood Safe E-learning module, and Infection Control module. Students must also satisfactorily complete hurdle assessments in hand hygiene and medication administration and drug calculation prior to PEP.
The per semester fee for the Bachelor of Nursing is $18,000. The course is offered on campus in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane. The CRICOS Course Code is 118071E.
IHM's Bachelor of Nursing course has adopted technology-based training and virtual simulation laboratories and educational materials to prepare students for the future as they learn about electronic health records, mHealth apps and other digital tools. Students also have the opportunity to practice nursing skills in state of the art simulated educational laboratories to prepare for professional experience placements in healthcare facilities.
