Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurses)

If you are a diploma-qualified nurse and would like to boost your qualifications, this two-year Bachelor of Nursing is for you. ACU graduate nurses are held in high regard for their clinical skills, quick thinking and compassion, and the university is connected to an extensive range of hospitals and health care partners, giving you strong opportunities for industry placements and future employment.

The degree totals 160 credit points: 30 credit points of Interdisciplinary Learning units, 10 credit points from the University Core Curriculum, 80 credit points of Nursing Theory units and 40 credit points of Clinical Nursing Practice units. The nursing theory sequence covers mental health, surgical and medical nursing, chronic illness and disability, a palliative approach, extended clinical reasoning, building healthy communities, and transition to contemporary nursing and clinical leadership, while the Integrating Practice units carry the clinical component.

You will be required to complete at least 720 hours of professional experience, undertaking clinical placements as part of a variety of clinical units throughout the course in maternity hospitals and community facilities, so the theory you learn is integrated with practical workplace experience. A number of units are offered each year at ACU's Rome Campus, including NRSG265 and HLSC220, while NRSG373 Professional Practice can be studied in Cambodia, India, the USA, Singapore, Timor Leste, Vanuatu or Chile.

The course is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council and approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and eligible graduates can apply for registration as a registered nurse with Ahpra. It is offered at ACU's Ballarat, Blacktown, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and North Sydney campuses.
