Students complete four units of study in which they develop an understanding of research design and methodology, including data collection and analysis techniques, and the ethical considerations involved in undertaking research. The degree culminates in the preparation of a thesis of approximately 15,000 words.
Honours students work with a supervisor who assists them throughout their study. The supervisor helps guide the project and assists in formulating a research question, study design, ethics submissions, collecting results, and the writing and publishing of work.
Yes, the program can be completed full time over 1 year or part time over 2 years. Students intending to study part time need to enter a ticket in Service Now to change their enrolment after they are enrolled.
The closing date for Semester 1 applications is 15 January of the commencing year. The University strongly encourages applicants to apply as early as possible, as offers are made on a rolling basis and places are limited. The course starts in February (Semester 1).
Your research proposal should be 250–500 words and include the following suggested headings: Background to the topic (summarising what is already known and what is missing), Aim/Question, Methods (briefly covering design, setting, and participants, and whether ethics will be required), and a Timeline. References should be in APA 7th edition format.
