Common Questions
No separate application is required. All students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) undertake Advancing Clinical Practice and Professional Practice Internship units in Level 4. Students who achieve a weighted average mark of 75 or above on completion of Level 3 units will be invited to undertake graded Honours and may enrol in the Research Dissertation units. Students who obtain a weighted average mark below 75 will enrol in Quality Improvement Project units instead.
Students undertake 800+ hours of supervised clinical placements across all four years of the course, commencing in the second semester of first year. Placements are available in hospital, residential, community and telehealth settings across metropolitan Perth and regional WA (Pilbara, Midwest and Great Southern). Students are allocated a health-service partner and are expected to undertake a rural or remote placement in year 2 or 3. Extended rural/remote and international placements are also available. The final year includes a full internship.
Before attending clinical placement, students must obtain a range of clearances and vaccinations including: a WA National Police Certificate (3-year expiry), Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (5-year expiry), WA Health Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, annual CPR and Manual Handling certificates, and evidence of immunisations for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis, COVID-19, and annual Influenza. MRSA screening and Tuberculosis screening are also required. Many of these requirements incur costs that students are responsible for.
Students should budget for a range of incidental costs including: a uniform (minimum 2 sets, approximately $150–$300), stethoscope ($70–$300), penlight ($5), fob watch ($15), electronic device such as a smartphone or laptop ($500–$2,000), Basic Life Support Certificate with annual renewal ($70–$100), Manual Handling Certificate with annual renewal ($70–$150), police clearances ($50–$90 every 3 years), NDIS screening ($11 every 5 years), Working With Children Check ($11 every 3 years), identification badge (~$25), and infection control/immunisation costs (up to $650 plus potential annual renewals). Additional travel costs may apply for rural/remote placements.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
