About This Course

Are you passionate about working with people to achieve their best health through nutrition? The Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics will equip you with the skills to interpret and translate scientific knowledge into practical information that can improve lives. This degree lets you explore how food and nutrition impact health, equipping you to help people make better choices and prevent diet-related illnesses. Dietitians work closely with many other professions including health professionals, like doctors, nurses, Aboriginal health workers and other Allied Health professionals as well as food service staff and support staff to provide well-rounded care for people of all ages. They support and provide nutrition expertise in various settings, including hospitals, private practice, residential care, disability support services and for community services and population health as well as through online media helping individuals manage their wellbeing through healthier eating.

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, you will be eligible for accreditation by Dietitians Australia. The degree is also recognised in Singapore, the UK, New Zealand, and Canada.

What kind of practical experience will I get during the degree?

In your third and fourth years, you will get hands-on experience with placement opportunities. Your fourth year includes a variety of placements covering individual case management, community/public health, and food service management.

Is there an Honours option available for this degree?

Yes, the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) is a one-year full-time embedded program taking place in your final placement year. The Honours program provides more comprehensive research training to complement the professional skills and competencies achieved during professional practice placements, and allows you to develop research and communication skills, expand your career options, and provides a more accessible pathway to postgraduate research.
