Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)

The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours), which ACU abbreviates as BOccThy(Honours), is a 320 credit point award with a minimum duration of four years full-time or the equivalent part-time. ACU's 2027 handbook lists Ballarat, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and North Sydney as the approved locations for the course. To qualify for the honours degree a student completes 220 credit points of specified units, 40 credit points of honours units, 10 credit points of professional practice units, 40 credit points of honours professional practice units and 10 credit points of Core Curriculum units. Units listed in the schedule include ALHT106 Psychology for Allied Health, BIOL121 Human Biological Science 1, OTHY100 Foundations of Occupational Therapy, OTHY101 Health and Occupation, OTHY102 Musculoskeletal Structure and Function for Occupational Therapy, OTHY107 Infants and Children, OTHY108 Evidence-Based Practice and Health Conditions, ALHT210 Neuroscience for Allied Health, ALHT211 Research and Evidence-Informed Practice in Allied Health, OTHY204 Occupational Participation and Disability, OTHY205 Mental Health Recovery in Occupational Therapy 1 and OTHY207 Vocational Preparation and Rehabilitation. Students normally complete introductory 100-level units in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced 200 or 300-level units, and are advised on progression by the Course Adviser and bound by decisions of the School Committee. ACU records one exit point: a student who has completed 220 to 230 credit points of Bachelor of Occupational Therapy units excluding Core Curriculum, plus 10 to 20 credit points of Core Curriculum units, may exit with the Bachelor of Allied Health.
