Common Questions
This five-year program provides unmatched experiential learning opportunities. Hands-on training starts in year one, and you'll complete professional placements throughout your degree in a range of urban, rural, community, hospital and industry settings. In your fifth year, you'll complete a placement in a rural/remote area to gain first-hand experience practising in these locations. You'll also learn in simulation pharmacies and compounding laboratories.
The degree has an embedded professional practice stream where you'll learn alongside students from UNSW's dietetics and food innovation, physiotherapy and exercise physiology programs. The stream includes seven courses covering professionalism and communication, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based and value-based healthcare, ethics and law, leadership and business management skills, innovation and entrepreneurship, advocacy, and investigation and creative problem-solving.
The 2026 Lowest Selection Rank (ATAR plus adjustment factors) is 92.0, with a lowest ATAR of 82.0. Assumed knowledge includes Chemistry and Mathematics Advanced. Adjustment factors are available through schemes such as HSC Plus (up to 5 points), Elite Athletes, Performers and Leaders (up to 5 points), and the Educational Access Scheme (1–10 points). Pathway options include the Gateway Admission Pathway and Indigenous entry programs.
Yes. In your final year, you can choose from the following pathways: research, pharmacy and health management, public health, or a study abroad program. You can also take elective courses from the Master of Health Leadership and Management to complement your pharmaceutical studies, and a course in pharmacy management to learn the economics of running a community pharmacy.
As a student enrolled in the UNSW Pharmacy Program, you will be registered as a student with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and subject to the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW). You must demonstrate knowledge and compliance with relevant national and state laws, meet ongoing immunisation requirements, manage ethical issues appropriately, communicate effectively in spoken and written English, and demonstrate the cognitive, sensory, and physical abilities required for pharmacy practice. It is also a requirement of the Pharmacy Board of Australia that any health impairment which may impact upon patient safety is disclosed when applying for registration as a Pharmacist following graduation.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
