Common Questions
Students undertake approximately 40 weeks of supervised training with an industry placement partner. RMIT partners with more than 30 organisations each year, including pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organisations, hospitals, and universities. Placement allocation is determined by a competitive process — based on student areas of interest, partners conduct interviews and select their preferred candidates. Graduates continuing from the RMIT Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences will commence placement selection in their third year of that program.
Students are required to have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccination, hold a valid Working with Children Check (valid for 5 years), and present evidence of a successful Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (an annual requirement). Other immunisation requirements depend on the placement organisation. A full course of immunisations can take up to 7 months to complete, so students should contact their medical practitioner prior to entering the program. All relevant screening and compliance check fees are the responsibility of the student.
Assessment in this degree includes literature reviews, critical analysis, review journals and critical reflection exercises, oral presentations, workplace visit performance appraisals from industry supervisors. Learning is achieved through participation and contribution to industry projects, attendance at professional workshops and seminars, and regular correspondence with RMIT throughout the placement.
For domestic students in Commonwealth Supported Places, the annual student contribution amount for a standard full-time year ranges from AU$4,738 to AU$17,399 depending on the discipline band of enrolled courses, plus a maximum Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of AU$373 for 2026. Eligible students may defer payment via HECS-HELP and SA-HELP loan schemes. For international students, the total 2026 fee is AU$46,080.
On successful completion of the degree, graduates may be eligible to join a number of Australian professional societies in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, including the Association of Regulatory and Clinical Scientists to the Pharmaceutical Industry (ARCS), Australasian Pharmaceutical Science Association (APSA), Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT), and Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
