Common Questions
You will undertake approximately 40 weeks of supervised training with an industry placement partner. RMIT partners with more than 30 organisations each year, including pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organisations, hospitals, and universities. Placement allocation is determined by a competitive process — based on student areas of interest, partners conduct interviews and select their preferred candidates. Graduates continuing from the RMIT Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences will commence placement selection in third year, while graduates from other institutions should liaise with the program coordinator to facilitate preferences and placement interview times after application and enrolment.
Students must have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccination to meet compliance requirements set by industry partners. Other immunisation requirements depend on the specific placement organisation and students will be advised prior to commencing placement. A full course of immunisations can take up to 7 months to complete, so students should contact their medical practitioner prior to entering the program. Additionally, students must hold a valid Working with Children Check (valid for 5 years) and must present evidence of a successful Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (an annual requirement) prior to undertaking clinical components. All relevant screening and compliance check fees are the responsibility of the student.
Assessment in this degree includes a literature review, critical analysis review, journals and critical reflection exercises, oral presentations, workplace visit performance appraisals from industry supervisors. Learning is achieved through participation and contribution to industry projects, professional workshops and seminars, and regular correspondence with RMIT throughout your placement.
For domestic students, Commonwealth Supported Places are available, with the annual student contribution amount for a standard year of full-time study ranging between AU$4,738 to AU$17,399 in 2026 depending on the band of courses enrolled in. The maximum Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) for 2026 is AU$373. For international students, the total fee for 2026 is AU$46,080. Eligible domestic students may defer payment through HECS-HELP and SA-HELP loan schemes.
On successful completion of the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Honours), graduates may be eligible to join a number of Australian professional societies in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, including the Association of Regulatory and Clinical Scientists to the Pharmaceutical Industry (ARCS), Australasian Pharmaceutical Science Association (APSA), Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT), and the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
