Build your understanding of how medicines treat diseases and impact people's lives, and the importance of patient-centred and individualised care. Access our on-campus training pharmacy and get work-ready by participating in a range of community and hospital placements.

By completing La Trobe's Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours), you will:

understand biochemistry, haematology and pharmacology and how systems of the body work, and how diseases and medicines affect these systems
learn counselling and communication techniques that equip you to deliver patient-centred care
explore the evolving use of digital technologies in healthcare and the technological, clinical, social, legal and ethical impacts of digital health
develop expertise in the practical applications of pharmaceutical care, including drugs used in respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, infections, endocrinology, psychiatry, oncology and palliative care
examine issues in public health, including rural and remote Australia and across Indigenous communities
graduate eligible to complete a one-year internship and take the Pharmacy Board of Australia exams to qualify as a professional pharmacist.

Domestic students:

Recent secondary education (Year 12)

This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection considerations.

VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

VCE: A study score of 35 in Biology, Chemistry, any Mathematics or Physics equals 6 aggregate points per study. A study score of 30 in Biology, Chemistry, any Mathematics or Physics equals 5 aggregate points per study. A study score of 25 in Biology, Chemistry, any Mathematics or Physics equals 4 aggregate points per study. A study score of 20 in LOTE equals 4 aggregate points per study. Overall maximum of 12 points
