About This Course

The University of Notre Dame Australia's three-year Bachelor of Philosophy encourages students to reflect deeply and critically on fundamental questions and to examine their own beliefs, values and approach to living. The degree, deliverable full-time or part-time, boosts critical thinking abilities and deepens cultural literacy by exploring how philosophical thought has shaped Western culture.

The program covers Ancient, Medieval and Modern philosophy while engaging with contemporary problems addressed by both analytic and continental philosophy, taking seriously the Catholic philosophical tradition's emphasis on considering ideas from all points of view. Students can undertake a Major or Minor in Theology, History, English Literature, Politics & International Relations, Behavioural Science or Social Justice.

Graduates can follow diverse career paths in the private and public sectors, including advocacy, journalism and media, international diplomacy and trade missions, policy development, government administration, academic teaching, public libraries, and research institutes. An Honours award is available.

Applicants with Higher Education: successful completion of 4 subjects at undergraduate level or higher, OR completion of the Notre Dame Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP) or an equivalent tertiary preparation program
Applicants with VET study: AQF Certificate IV or higher from an accredited provider (TAFE/RTO)
Applicants with Work and Life Experience (20+ years of age as at 1 March of intake year, 2+ years since secondary education): 2+ years of relevant work experience (STAT may be required); OR STAT scores of at least 135 (Multiple Choice) and 140 (Written English); OR two Year 12 WACE/HSC exams equivalent to the ATAR/Selection Rank above
