Admission is through direct application to the University – applications are directed to the School of Health Sciences. Students must have completed 200 credit points in the first two and a half years of the Western Sydney Bachelor of Physiotherapy program and achieved a GPA of 6.0 or greater. Students with a GPA in the range of 5.0-6.0 and a credit average in subjects completed in Bachelor of Physiotherapy Levels 2 and 3 will also be considered.
Yes, the academic and clinical curriculum has been developed in line with physiotherapy accreditation standards. The Australian Physiotherapy Council has accredited the current program. Upon completion of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program, graduates may be eligible for registration as physiotherapists in Australia.
To attend a health-related placement, Special Legislative Requirements will be assessed from the first year of study. Students must be assessed as compliant with NSW Health student placement policy in the first year of their program. Requirements include obtaining a National Police Check, gathering documentary evidence of vaccination history, completing all relevant NSW Health forms, holding a valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC), and maintaining a current approved first aid certificate valid for the entire program.
The Honours program is available to high achieving students and does not take any longer to complete the degree. Students apply for entry into the Honours program in year 3. They begin advanced research training in the latter half of year 3. Clinical placements and an honours thesis are completed during the fourth year of the program. The thesis presents research that addresses real physiotherapy problems, conducted under the supervision of experienced academic researchers.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) can pursue a broad range of career opportunities including working as a Physiotherapist, Private Practice Owner, in Research and Teaching, or as an Industry Consultant.
