Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) (BPhty(Hons)) is an Australian Catholic University degree of 320 credit points with a minimum duration of four years full-time. The 2027 handbook lists three approved locations: Ballarat, Brisbane and North Sydney. To qualify for the honours award a student completes 320 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of 70 credit points of Specified Honours units (Part A), 10 credit points of Inter-professional units (Part B), 150 credit points of Physiotherapy Practice units (Part C), 40 credit points of Physiotherapy Honours units (Part D), 40 credit points of Allied Health Honours units (Part E) and 10 credit points of University Core Curriculum units (Part F). Named units in the schedule include Physiotherapy Anatomy, Human Biology, Pathophysiology for Physiotherapy, Neuroscience for Allied Health, Psychology for Allied Health, Foundations of Physiotherapy Practice, and Cardiorespiratory and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Practice. Students need to complete introductory 100-level units in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced 200 or 300-level units unless otherwise approved by the Course Adviser, who advises students on all aspects of progress through the course. Students must pass all units in the honours program; failure to do so may result in a student being transferred from the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) back to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program. The handbook also sets out an exit point: a student who has successfully completed 220 to 230 credit points from the Bachelor of Physiotherapy units excluding the Core Curriculum units, together with 10 to 20 credit points from the Core Curriculum units, may exit with the Bachelor of Allied Health.
