The Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine (Honours) is a four-year degree that equips you with the knowledge and clinical skills to meet the prescribing competencies required for registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia. You'll graduate prepared for advanced clinical practice, with the skills to safely prescribe and administer scheduled medicines as part of patient care. Guided by experienced podiatrists, you’ll develop practical, patient‑facing skills in diagnosing, treating, and preventing foot and lower limb conditions. You’ll also help prevent related issues such as back and joint pain caused by changes in posture, walking, and running. Specialist clinic areas include sports injuries, biomechanics, paediatrics, surgery, and more. We offer a guaranteed entry pathway into the Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine (Honours) program for those who have completed the HLT43021 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance course. Students complete more than 1,000 hours of practical experience during their second, third and fourth year of studies which will help them to become ‘life ready graduates’. The program strongly supports students with multidisciplinary experiences that will help the transition into the workforce. Work alongside experienced podiatrists in the University of Newcastle Student Podiatry Clinic's located at Wyong Hospital and Newcastle Community Health Service (Hunter Street). General Requirements

Admission is through direct application to the university - applications are directed to the School of Health Sciences.
Students must have completed 200 units in the first 2.5 years of the Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine program and achieved a GPA of 5.0 or greater. Students with a GPA in the range of 4.5-5.0 and a credit average in subjects completed in Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine levels 2 and 3 may also be considered.

Recommended studies: Mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology.
