The available subject areas within this honours degree include Anthropology, Criminology, Political Economy, and Sociology.
To qualify for admission, students must have qualified for (or be eligible for) the award of the pass degree, have completed a minimum of 48 senior credit points with a Credit average or above in the intended subject area/s, and have an average of 70% or above in eight senior units of study (48 credit points) in the subject they wish to take honours. Permission from the chair of the department or program coordinator is also required.
The degree takes 1 year full time for both domestic and international students. Part time study is available for eligible applicants, excluding international student visa holders.
The program starts in Semester 1 (February) and Semester 2 (August). For standalone honours degrees, you apply directly to the University via the online application. Standard closing dates are 15 January for Semester 1 and 25 June for Semester 2. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible, as offers are made on a rolling basis and places are limited.
The honours year is the Faculty's essential research training pathway to higher degrees by research in the humanities and social sciences, making it an important stepping stone for students who wish to pursue careers as professional researchers and academics.
