Common Questions
UC offers teaching degrees that go way beyond the traditional classroom. Our Initial Teacher Education courses are designed to give you more in-class learning and career-long benefits than any other program of their kind in Australia. From your first year, you'll gain hands-on experience through our school-based clinics in Canberra schools. These unique opportunities let you plan, teach and reflect in real classrooms, supported by expert academics and mentors. UC also provides professional development opportunities, scholarships and innovative programs that combine study with school-based work.
UC's Bachelor of Education offers flexible study modes, including a blended delivery option. For coursework, you can choose between on campus (all classes in person at UC) or blended (a mix of online and on campus classes). Every UC education student needs to complete in-person, on-country experiences in schools as part of their course, with school-based placements in the ACT region.
Through UC's Affiliated Schools Program, you will complete at least 80 days of placement, working across different year levels to build adaptability and real classroom skills. Your degree finishes with a 30-day immersive teaching experience, where you will take the lead in the classroom under expert mentorship.
You may still be able to apply for a Bachelor of Education at UC even if you do not have an ATAR, or if your ATAR is lower than you hoped. Many students enter through alternative pathway options, such as previous study at TAFE, a bridging or enabling program, or by applying as a mature-age student with work or life experience. In some cases, credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may also be available, which could shorten the time it takes to complete your degree.
Graduates of UC's Bachelor of Education will receive an ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) industry recognised qualification, preparing them to teach with confidence and adaptability in a variety of educational settings.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
