Common Questions
To complete the Bachelor of Property and Real Estate/Bachelor of Laws, you must pass 40 credit points in total: 16 credit points from the Bachelor of Property and Real Estate and 24 credit points from the Bachelor of Laws, including compulsory core units, WIL electives, and course electives. You must also complete DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (a 0-credit-point compulsory unit) in your first study period.
Students have the opportunity to work on real cases at the Deakin Law Clinic, where they can conduct research on legal issues and offer advice while being supervised by qualified solicitors. The course also provides internship placements with a range of organisations including community legal centres and not-for-profit organisations, which can count for credit towards your degree. Work Integrated Learning (WIL) units are available in both the property and law streams.
The Bachelor of Property and Real Estate/Bachelor of Laws is available at Burwood (Melbourne) and Online. You can commence studies in Trimester 1 (starting March) or Trimester 2 (starting July) at both locations. Direct applications to Deakin for Trimester 2 2026 close on 21 June 2026.
The lowest selection rank ATAR for the Burwood (Melbourne) campus is 90.15 (based on 2026 early and first round VTAC offers, including relevant adjustment factors), with a Deakin Guaranteed ATAR of 80 for eligible students. For the Online offering, the lowest selection rank is unpublished (NP), with a Deakin Guaranteed ATAR of 75. Applicants also need a study score of at least 30 in English EAL or at least 25 in English other than EAL.
The standard duration is 5 years full-time or part-time equivalent. You may be able to study available units in the optional third trimester to fast-track your degree; however, your course duration may be extended if there are delays in meeting course requirements, such as completing a placement. As a full-time student you will study four credit points per trimester and usually undertake two trimesters per year.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
