About This Course

The Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (BPsychSc/LLB(Hons)) is an Australian Catholic University double degree of 400 credit points with a minimum duration of five years full-time or equivalent part-time. The 2027 handbook lists three approved locations, Melbourne, North Sydney and Strathfield, and notes that in Sydney the Law units are taken at North Sydney and the Psychological Science units at Strathfield. To qualify for the double degrees a student completes 160 credit points selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Psychological Science and 240 credit points selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Laws (Honours). The psychology component consists of 140 credit points of Psychology specified units (Part A) and 20 credit points of Core Curriculum units (Part B), with named units including Foundations of Psychology, Research Design and Data Analysis, Life Span Development, Abnormal Psychology, Cognitive Psychology and Psychological Assessment. The law component consists of 180 credit points of Law specified units (Part C), 10 credit points of Law elective units (Part D), the 10 credit point LAWS450 Legal Research and Methodology (Part E), the 30 credit point LAWS451 Honours Thesis (Part F) and a 10 credit point Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono unit (Part G). To qualify for the honours degree, at least four of the units taken from the Law specified and Law elective lists must be at level 4, and students must also complete at least 80 hours of zero credit point pro bono placement after completing LAWS213 Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono. Students normally complete introductory 100-level units before undertaking advanced 200, 300 and 400-level units.

General Requirements

Domestic students

To be eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor (Honours) degree, a student must have completed at least 120 cp of LAWS units from the Bachelor of Laws degree, with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 5.75.
An applicant must also comply with ACU's Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

International students

ACU's 2027 handbook publishes no separate international-applicant requirements for this course. The admission requirements above are stated for all applicants: at least 120 cp of LAWS units from the Bachelor of Laws degree, with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 5.75, together with compliance with ACU's Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
