Common Questions
Yes. The Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at Flinders University is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), meaning it meets national standards for psychology education and provides a clear pathway toward further study and registration as a psychologist in Australia.
The 36-unit honours course includes advanced coursework to deepen your understanding of contemporary psychology, research methods, ethics and data analysis, as well as pre-professional skills in assessment, intervention and counselling. Alongside coursework, you will undertake an independent scholarly research project supervised by experienced researchers, culminating in a written honours thesis, and assessed through coursework, the thesis, and research presentations and seminars.
You can choose from five research specialisations: Cognitive and Brain Sciences (attention, perception, decision-making and brain function), Mental Health and Wellbeing, Developmental Psychology (social, emotional and cognitive development across the lifespan), Social and Community Psychology (relationships, culture, inclusion and resilience), and Health and Applied Psychology (psychological factors influencing behaviour, wellbeing, stress, trauma and rehabilitation).
Completing the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) is a key step toward becoming a registered psychologist, with pathways into postgraduate programs such as the Master of Professional Psychology and Master of Clinical Psychology. It also sets you up for higher-degree research, including pathways into a clinical PhD or combined research programs, given the skills developed in independent project design, data analysis, and professional communication.
Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities including the Human Artificial + Virtual Interactive Cognition (HAVIC) Lab, the Psychology of Justice, Emotion and Morality Lab, the Psychology of Applied Cognition and Teaching Lab, the Forensic and Clinical Cognition Lab, and the Clinical and Cognitive Curiosity Lab. Students also connect with research centres such as the Flinders Institute for Mental Health and Wellbeing (FIMHWell) and work closely with expert supervisors throughout their research project.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
