For internal applicants (those who completed their APAC-accredited psychology sequence at UNSW in the immediately preceding year), a Psychology Average of 75 (Distinction minimum) is the minimum eligibility requirement, but does not guarantee a place. For external applicants, a psychology WAM of 80 or better is required, completed within the last 10 years. In both cases, admission is competitive and depends on the availability of School resources.
Yes. The Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as a Level 2 (fourth year of study) program. It satisfies the minimum requirement for provisional registration and is the next step towards becoming a registered psychologist. Graduates are also eligible to apply for associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
No. The Honours year commences in late January/early February and must be undertaken full-time over one year. Mid-year entry and part-time enrolment are not available for this program.
The research project may be undertaken in most areas of psychology. These include psychopathology, behavioural neuroscience, cognitive science, cognition and perception, forensic psychology, social, personality and developmental psychology, health psychology, language, and vision science. Students can find a supervisor working in an area they are passionate about and tailor their project to their interests.
For domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $9,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $9,500. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year fee is $62,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $63,500. Fees are subject to annual review and may vary.
