Common Questions
Yes, the Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours is accredited with the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). Psychology honours completed after a three-year accredited sequence of study in psychology is the minimum qualification required to apply for the fifth year of accredited study, forming part of the 5+1 pathway for provisional registration as a psychologist in Australia. It is also required training to apply for Clinical Masters programs and can qualify graduates for entry into postgraduate research programs such as a PhD.
You must have completed an APAC accredited AQF Level 7 degree, including the 3-year sequence in Psychology stipulated in the APAC Rules and Standards (2019), with a GPA not less than 5.0 (a credit average) across the degree. Alternatively, you may have completed an APAC accredited postgraduate qualification (e.g. Graduate Diploma in Psychology) providing the APAC 3-year psychology sequence for holders of an AQF Level 7 degree, with a GPA of not less than 5.0 (a credit average). These qualifications must have been completed within the last 10 years unless approved by the Course Coordinator.
This degree may be awarded in the following classes: 1. First Class; 2. Second Class (Division 1); 3. Second Class (Division 2); or 4. Third Class.
The course is structured around 8 units (96 credit points) completed over one year full-time or two years part-time. Units include Psychology Seminars, Psychology Honours Thesis I and II (both double-weighted), Advanced Psychological Data Analysis, Advanced Topics in Professional Psychology, and Psychological Assessment and Intervention Across Settings: Practice, Research and Evaluation. A key component is conducting a substantive research project in psychology with the support of specialist academics.
The course is available at the Gold Coast campus and Online, with intake starting in March (Term 1). Domestic students can study full-time (1 year) or part-time (2 years), while international students are available full-time at the Gold Coast campus only. Applications for 2026 are open for Online and Gold Coast and will close Monday, 20 October 2025 or earlier if full. Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
