Yes, the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council and is required to apply for provisional registration as a psychologist in Australia. An additional two years of education and training is necessary to apply for general registration, either through a fifth year at University plus one year of supervised practice in the community, or an approved postgraduate degree accredited at the fifth and sixth year level.
The minimum score for guaranteed entry is a Selection Rank of 89. Your Selection Rank is your ATAR or IB Combined Rank plus any adjustments you are eligible to receive. The equivalent IBAS is 34.75.
The degree contains a significant research thesis along with coursework where you will learn how the science and practice of psychology is influenced by social, historical, professional and cultural contexts, and knowledge of ethical behaviour. As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week, including class time and independent study.
The Northfields (Psychology) Clinic on campus provides hands-on practice with clients for both the Master of Psychology (Clinical) and Master of Professional Psychology students, offering real-world clinical experience as part of the broader psychology program at UOW.
For the Autumn Session 2026, the application deadlines are: Domestic (UAC Early Bird) by 30 September 2025, International by 9 December 2025, Domestic (direct) by 31 December 2025, and Domestic (UAC final round) by 29 January 2026. The session starts on 2 March 2026.
