The Bachelor of Science / Education (Secondary) is a four-year double degree that can be completed with full-time study. You'll complete a minimum of 192 units of credit (UOC) through a combination of majors, minors and electives across both the Science and Education components.
You can choose from nine science majors: Biology & Biodiversity, Chemistry, Ecology and Conservation, Geography, Mathematics for Education (only available to students enrolled concurrently in both a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education program), Pathology, Physics, and Physiology.
Yes. In your final year, you'll complete 80 days of supervised teaching practice in secondary schools, building real-world experience and classroom confidence. By your second year, you'll have already developed essential classroom skills and gained hands-on teaching experience, setting you up for success in your professional placements.
Yes. This degree is accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) as an initial teaching qualification for both government and non-government secondary schools throughout Australia, and is widely accepted as a teaching qualification internationally.
UNSW offers several adjustment factor schemes: the HSC Plus scheme rewards strong performance in relevant Year 12 subjects (up to 5 points); the Elite Athletes, Performers and Leaders (EAPL) program recognises elite achievements in sport, academia, leadership and music (up to 5 points); and the Educational Access Scheme (EAS) accounts for personal or educational disadvantages such as illness, financial hardship or language difficulties (between 1 and 10 points). The Gateway Admission Pathway also provides early offers with a reduced ATAR requirement for eligible students.
