Yes, this course is accredited in Australia by the Actuaries Institute, and it is the only actuary course offered by a Western Australian university. The Actuarial Science specialisation enables students to gain exemptions from the six subjects comprising the Foundation Program of the Actuaries Institute (Australia).
In third year, students can focus on either Actuarial Science or Actuarial and Applied Statistics. Actuarial Science is recommended if you intend to complete further studies and qualify as an actuary, as it enables exemptions from the six subjects of the Actuaries Institute's Foundation Program (a minimum course-weighted average is required). Actuarial and Applied Statistics is best if you want to broaden your expertise in data analysis and statistics but don't intend to work as an actuary, and it does not include all subjects of the Actuaries Institute's Foundation Program.
The guaranteed ATAR for entry into the Bachelor of Science (Actuarial Science) at Curtin University is 92. If you achieve this ATAR/selection rank and meet all other entry requirements, you are guaranteed a place in the course.
The essential prerequisite subject is Mathematics Methods ATAR. Mathematics Specialist ATAR is listed as a desirable subject. For students applying through a Curtin course switch, the Mathematics Methods ATAR prerequisite can be met with the Curtin units MATH1014 Foundations of Calculus or MATH1016 Calculus 1.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Science (Actuarial Science) can pursue careers as actuaries, risk managers, business analysts, data scientists, statisticians, and mathematicians. They can work across industries including banking and finance, insurance, superannuation, energy and mining resources, public sector finance and infrastructure, education, and health.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
