About This Course

Gain the expertise for a diverse career in the expanding area of occupational health and safety. In this course, you will learn how to create, maintain and manage safe and healthy workplaces. Occupational and environmental health professional roles across Australia are expected to grow by more than 19% by 2035. To begin with, you will study inter-professional health units with students from across health sciences, before focusing on your discipline. You'll learn how to identify and manage risks and hazards; contribute to decision-making; and improve health and safety to prevent injuries and illness in the workplace. You'll also develop skills in critical thinking, information literacy and technology. In your final year, you'll build your expertise in industry environments with a 100-hour placement in semester one, followed by a 150-hour placement in semester two.

IELTS Academic: Overall band score 6.5, with Writing 6, Speaking 6, Reading 6, Listening 6
Prerequisite subjects – Essential: None
Prerequisite subjects – Desirable: At least Mathematics Applications ATAR and one ATAR science course from the following list: Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Human Biology, Integrated Science, Physics or Psychology
Fieldwork requirements: Must complete student declaration and criminal record screening and clearance
Can also apply via: Portfolio entry, ATAR adjustment factors (equity), Curtin course switcher, higher education course switcher, work/life experience (Written English and MC Quantitative or Portfolio entry), or VET/TAFE (AQF Certificate IV with separate evidence of English language proficiency, AQF Diploma, or AQF Advanced Diploma)
