In your third year, you can choose from two specialisations or an accelerated pathway: the Health Data specialisation (covering big data analysis, data visualisation, cybersecurity, AI and machine learning in health), the Health Sciences specialisation (offering multidisciplinary units such as Global Public Health, Health Promotion, Occupational Health and Safety, and Sexology), or the Accelerated Bachelor Master pathway, which allows you to complete four units from a master degree and reduce sequential study time by six months. The Accelerated pathway requires a course-weighted average of 60 or higher after completing 300 credit points.
You must meet Curtin's English language requirements. For IELTS Academic, the required scores are: Overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6 in each of Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening. If you have completed a different English test or qualification, you may be able to use it to meet this requirement by checking Curtin's accepted English tests, qualifications and required scores on their English language requirements page.
Yes, this course requires you to undertake fieldwork placements to complete your qualification. In order to undertake fieldwork, you must meet the following requirements: a student declaration, criminal record screening and clearance, and communicable diseases requirements.
Yes. This degree is a pathway to graduate-entry master courses in Midwifery, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work and Speech Pathology. You can also progress into an accelerated master program specialising in Health Administration, Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health or Sexology through the Accelerated Bachelor Master pathway option within the degree itself.
The Bachelor of Science (Health Sciences) is offered at Curtin Perth and Curtin Kalgoorlie campuses, and is also available online. Intake is available in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 (intake dates shown are for the 2026 academic year at Curtin Perth). The course can be studied full-time or part-time, with a full-time duration of 3 years.
