Common Questions
You can customise your degree by choosing to major in either Medical Imaging or Radiation Therapy. Medical Imaging professionals work with diagnostic imaging modalities such as digital radiography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography and angiography. Radiation Therapy focuses on the treatment, care and management of patients undergoing radiation therapy, primarily for treating cancer, using complex technologies and equipment.
During the course, you will undertake 45 weeks of clinical experience in hospitals, private practices, and rural and regional health sites, giving you substantial real-world exposure before you graduate.
Yes, the Bachelor of Science (Medical Radiation Science) is accredited by the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia, ensuring your qualification is professionally recognised.
The essential prerequisite subjects are Physics and Mathematics Applications (ATAR or equivalent). Desirable subjects include Mathematics Methods or Mathematics Specialist (ATAR or equivalent). If you are switching from a Curtin course, the Mathematics Applications prerequisite can be met with units such as MATH1013, MATH1014, or MATH1015, and the Physics prerequisite can be met with PHYS1006 Foundations of Physics.
You will begin by studying interprofessional health units alongside students from other disciplines, then focus on discipline topics including medical physics, anatomy, pathology, physiology and evidence-based practice, along with subjects that prepare you for healthcare environments. You will also develop medico-legal, ethical and cultural awareness, and the communication skills needed for the responsible care of patients.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
