Common Questions
Acceptance into the Honours program is by invitation only. All applicants are required to be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) and have a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70 per cent or higher in the first three years of the course. Successful applicants will transfer from the Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) into the Honours program.
Students must complete a minimum of 1000 hours of professional placement in line with the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). This includes OCT3303 (320 hours, 6-week block), OCT4201 (320 hours, 6-week block in summer school), and OCT4202 (320 hours, 8-week block). Students are also required to complete risk management protocols including COVID vaccinations, National Police Clearance, WA Department of Health Criminal Record Screening Clearance Card, First Aid Certificate, evidence of immunisation status, MRSA clearance, and a Working with Children Check.
The Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) (Pass and Honours) is accredited by the Occupational Therapy Council of Australia Ltd (OTC) and approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (OTBA). Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration as an occupational therapist with the OTBA. The course is also approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).
The estimated 1st year indicative fee for domestic fee-paying students is AUD $34,400. This is provided as a guide only, based on a typical enrolment of students undertaking the first year of this course. At ECU, you pay for the individual units you enrol in, not an overall course fee, so the total cost of your course will vary depending on what units you choose. ECU fees are adjusted annually.
No, this course is not available to international students. It is only open to domestic students who are already enrolled in ECU's Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and meet the academic requirements for entry into the Honours program.
